Welcome to AddParkland.org!

Marsh Creek Park should be enlarged.  In particular, the park should be enlarged by adding two parcels of fields and woods abutting its northwest corner.  The fields and woods also border Brandywine Creek and Chalfant Rd.  The proposed addition straddles Marshall Rd.

Other pages in this web site explain why the park should be enlarged.  The "Add Parkland" page explains how the proposed addition can benefit the community.  The "This OR That?" page uses photos and text to show how park access might be enhanced by the proposed addition and how development might interfer with public access.  The "Families Threatened" page explains how family yards and neighborhoods are at risk of degradation if the fields and woods are developed rather than added to the park.

The rest of this page notifies readers about opportunities to speak out in support of enlarging the park.

To express your support for expanding Marsh Creek Park go to the "Sign Petition" page and the "Contact Information" page.
The "Contact Information" page provides phone and fax numbers plus email addresses for influential government officials.

VOICE YOUR SUPPORT FOR REDEPLOYING PUBLIC $
To enlarge Marsh Creek Park, financing must be secured to buy the land this website advocates adding to the park.  $20 million for that purpose may have been found.  $20 million will buy much or all of the land.  Ask Gov. Rendell, your state senator and representative to use the $20 million to enlarge the park.

The $20 million is CURRENTLY EARMARKED to ASSIST DEVELOPMENT of the land into Valhalla Brandywine.  Valhalla includes overnight lodging, restaurants and 275 homes.  The earmark is on p. 118 of The General Assembly of PA House Bill No. 2291 (see line 11, item x.A).  It is outrageous that money taken from households and other entities in Pennsylvania is earmarked to benefit a real estate developer and a development opposed by many residents of the surrounding area.  Such money should be used to directly benefit the public.  Enlarging Marsh Creek Park, Chester County's crown jewel, will directly benefit the public.
